MEET THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education serves as the governing school board and oversees the operation of the school. Working with the principal, early childhood director, and pastor, they are responsible for finances, staffing, policies / procedures, curriculum, recruitment, accreditation, calendar, etc. These are voluntarily elected positions from our church membership. The board may also contain two advisory members, who may be chosen at large and do not need to be members of the church, but preference will be given to those having children enrolled at school. They carry no official voting privileges. Meetings are once a month. Volunteers are asked to commit to a three year term with the option to serve additional terms. Any school parent may address the Board of Education provided they make arrangements with the Board’s chairman or the administrator three days prior to the meeting. The chairman of the Board may then choose to include the topic at the beginning of the agenda and allow the parent up to 15 minutes to present, following the opening devotion. Learn more about our current board members below.

Please feel free to contact the board of education at any point by emailing them at boe@stjohnwrightstown.com.

Todd Coenen

Chairman

My wife, Janet, and I  have three children—Jaylyn, Althea, and William—all of whom have attended or are currently attending St. John.

I grew up just outside of Wrightstown in the Town of Van den Broek and graduated from Kaukauna High School. After high school, I attended a vocational program in Iowa for Electrical Distribution, which led me to travel and work in various locations before returning home. I then spent 20 years with a local company, where I advanced my career to become the Northeast Wisconsin Area Manager.

During that time, Janet and I were searching for a church home and chose to enroll our children at St. John. We immediately fell in love with the school, the staff, and the welcoming congregation, and soon became members. Since then, my faith has never been stronger, and I feel blessed to be surrounded by such a supportive, Christ-centered community.

Outside of work and service, I enjoy cheering on our kids at their sporting events, following the Brewers and Packers, and spending time outdoors—especially deer hunting, which I often call my “second church.”

I look forward to continuing to serve St. John in the years ahead in any way God calls me, including in my role as School Board Chairman.

Wayne Cisler

Church Elder Representative

I have been in the Lutheran Church my entire life.  I attended school at Shirley through 8th grade and was confirmed there.  I then met my wife, Leah (Rosenbaum), who is a life long member and 6th generation family at St John.  I transferred membership after we were married in 2010.  We are blessed with two children, Lincoln and Liberty.

I have served on the Board of Education several times throughout my membership at St. John. The first term started soon after Lincoln started attending 3K and continues now that my children are in middle school grades.  I have helped move and grow the campus from a small, four-room school house to the building we are blessed with today.  I serve as an Elder to advise the Board of Education and report to the Church Council on its behalf.

Outside of my time at church, I work as a field service engineer and supervisor for a local company.  Both of my kids are active in sports, but we still find time to go in the woods every fall deer hunting.

I am committed to being a resource for all of the Board members and school families here at St. John.  I will take the time to listen to concerns that arise and apply Biblical principles for outcomes that support the school's mission.

Parent Liason

My family includes my wife, Erica, my daughter, Arabella, who is now attending Fox Valley Lutheran High School following her SJLS graduation, and my son, Braxton, who currently attends St. John Lutheran School.

I grew up in a small-town Lutheran school in Door County and enjoyed the
whole experience as a child. My mission while serving on school board is to try and
make sure every child who goes to SJLS has the same experience whether your time here is brief or extended at St John. I will be a resource for parents to reach out with any questions pertaining to the endless opportunities they have to be involved in their child’s academics here at St John and answering any questions or concerns they have about school.

In my spare time, we enjoy going to tractor/farm toy shows. We recently restored a classic tractor, “Allis,” so we try to get her out doing wagon rides at various local/community events. We travel to Door County quite a bit. My in-laws moved to Florida, so we visit them a few times a year. Also, I enjoy anything CHRISTmas related. Every day is a good day to celebrate the birth of our Savior and relish the nostalgic memories of Christmas past.

Brad Hein

Treasurer

I proudly serve on the school board for St. John Lutheran School, bringing a strong commitment to education, community, and family values. As the Fleet Manager at Fox Valley Technical College, I oversee the truck driving and diesel programs, ensuring students receive hands-on, career-ready training in high-demand fields.

A lifelong outdoorsman, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. My wife Jamie and I are the proud parents of three children—Jayden, Gavin, and Chloe—who all attend St. John school. Our family also includes Scooter, a spirited young dog who keeps us on our toes.

My dedication to student success and community engagement drives my work on the board, where I advocate for practical learning opportunities, safe and supportive school environments, and strong partnerships between families and educators.

Evan Bern

Secretary

My name is Evan Bern, and I'm honored to have served on the St. John Board of Education. My wife, Kari, and I have been members of the St. John’s family for a couple of years, and we have three wonderful children-- Loretta, Nash, and Dutton. I enjoy staying involved in their active lives by coaching their hockey and baseball teams. I grew up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota and enjoy all Minnesota sports, but my household is divided when it comes to sports, and unfortunately I am outnumbered (Go Vikings)! For the past several years I've worked as an electrician. I'm excited to continue helping lead and grow our school and to spread the word of Jesus to all the families of St. John. I look forward to meeting all of you.
